b* creative Issue #4
I am ecstatic about this month’s issue and all of the inspiration that we have lined up for you.
Here is the link to b* creative Issue #4, May 2010: http://issuu.com/b_creative/docs/issue_4
A feature artist I’d particularly like to draw your attention to is Michael Kutsche, award winning Conceptual Artist and Illustrator, who was the character designer on Tim Burton’s “Alice In Wonderland”. We were delighted when Michael agreed to do an interview for b* creative and we wish him all the best on his next project “John Carter of Mars”(2012), directed by Andrew Stanton.
Someone else I’d like to particularly wish all the luck in the world to is John Mark Herskind, initiator of Designers Against Child Slavery (DACS) Project and muse for the May theme of b* creative. This young man is a true inspiration and, at only 17, he is doing so much more for humanity than the average teenager. Teaming up with The Blind Project, a non-profit aimed to restore and reveal the true value of those exploited by the commercial sex trade, John Mark and colleague Chris Valentine, have started DACS in order to help those less fortunate than themselves. DACS is a Design Collective that enables creatives from all over the world to rise up against the child sex trade. Apart from the fact that we believe in the fantastic cause of the DACS project, we also place special emphasis on the DACS feature because we have based the majority of the inspiration in this issue around that central theme. With the risk of coming across as a little bit “dark” this month, we believe that there isn’t enough importance placed on the human sex trade topic and that we all need to pay more attention and get involved. If you are an artist who wants to help out and get involved, please feel free to contact John Mark Herskind and Chris Valentine for further information on how to do so via their website http://www.dacsunited.com/Welcome.html
And finally, I wanted to say a big “Thank You” to ALL of the artists that entered our “Celebrating 100 With A Small Give Away” competition. Our judges have chosen the 20 finalists and the voting for the top 10 pieces of work will be open until the 01/07/2010. All you have to do is befriend Bcreative Here on facebook, click on this link (http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=8316&id=100000857047130&ref=mf) and start voting. You can vote for as many pieces of work as you like. The 10 winners of our competition will receive a small but awesome prize – the b* creative button badge!
I’m off to scout the net for some wonderful inspiration for the June issue, but I urge you to follow up on any artists or pieces of work that you like from any of our b* creative issues, by finding the corresponding url to the number located on their work (the urls can be found on the “references” page at the end of each issue).
So until next time, dear friends, don’t forget to; Imagine. Believe. Create. Achieve.
P.S. You can also check out the May issue via your facebook if you click on this link: http://www.facebook.com/pages/b-creative/104786349562842?v=box_3
